History of the Forum

The forum's appeals to the Ploiești mayor's office went unanswered and unresolved. In the spring of 2006, the building's owner forced us to vacate the premises. We were compelled to appeal to the Protestant Church in Ploiești for temporary storage of our belongings. For a year, the Forum had an office in an unheated alcove without natural light. After a year, we were asked to vacate this space as well, since the church was to be renovated. However, since we had nowhere else to move, we were allowed to store the Forum's furniture and archives in a side building of the church. They remain there to this day. Thus, the German Forum Ploiești has been without a space to carry out its activities for many years

2008 – The forum was granted legal status. To this end, the chair, Nadia Niculescu, registered her own apartment at 111A Găgeni Street, Building G1, Apt. 40, with the City Court as the forum's registered office, but no association-specific activities can be carried out there

Activities and priorities

Member meetings, German courses, and commemorative work

Member meetings, German courses, and commemorative work

As long as we had an office, the Forum was very active. Twice a week, we held meetings that our members enjoyed attending, as they provided an opportunity to practice their German. German courses for beginners and advanced learners were organised. Ms. Nadia Niculescu taught without pay, so the small fees paid by the course participants went to the Forum and, together with membership dues, formed its financial basis. We organised cultural events for the "Day of the Deportees" in cooperation with the Paul Constantinescu Museum, and we celebrated Christmas, Easter, and even our members' birthdays together. We participated in all the events of the Old Romania Regional Forum, with which we have a very good working relationship

Resumption of German courses

Resumption of German courses

Our only project was German language courses, which were discontinued due to a lack of a dedicated space, even though we still receive inquiries about them. Unfortunately, we cannot develop future projects without a location where we can work with our members

Miscellaneous & Support

Miscellaneous & Support

Thanks to our sponsors, Wilhelm Molitor and Prof. Dan Grigoriu, we were able to hold our events for the “Day of the Deportees,” Easter, and Christmas at other venues by paying a rental fee. Communication with forum members decreased during this time, but we were able to fulfill our obligations, also thanks to the support of the Old Romania Regional Forum leadership
