Democratic Forum of Germans in Kimpolung
DFDR Kimpolung represents the interests of the German minority and everyone interested in culture in Kimpolung (Romanian: Câmpulung Moldovenesc) and the surrounding communities of the Moldova Valley. As an active part of the Regional Forum of Old Romania & Bukovina, the Local Forum works to preserve Bukovina-German cultural heritage, promote the German language and foster interethnic coexistence.
In the historically rich city in the Vltava Valley, the local forum combines the preservation of the Bukovina German heritage with an open cultural and community life. It collaborates with other German communities in Bukovina and with local partners

History of the Forum
German settlement in Câmpulung began after 1775 under Austrian administration. Craftsmen, foresters, miners and civil servants settled in the town and its mountainous surroundings to develop timber and forestry activities and the infrastructure of southern Bukovina.
Kimpolung quickly developed into an important administrative and cultural centre. German schools, associations, and craft businesses shaped the townscape for generations. After the dramatic upheavals of the 20th century, the Local Forum was founded in 1990 to preserve the rich heritage and create a unifying point of contact for the remaining Bukovina Germans

In close connection with the neighbouring forums in Suceava, Gura Humorului and Vatra Dornei, the DFD Kimpolung participates in regional cultural projects and exhibitions, thus enriching the cultural life in Bukovina

Edelweiß Rarău Music Group
The Edelweiß Rarău music group adds a distinctive musical voice in Bukovina and carries German songs and culture forward at events organised by the Forum and its partners.

Regular Activities & Traditions
The Kimpolung DFD (DFD) organises regular cultural afternoons, lectures, and celebrates traditional festivals throughout the year, such as Easter, St. Martin's Day, and Christmas. The preservation of German-language literature and the shared remembrance of the region's history are central to its activities
